Atwood Management is excited to offer a career opportunity to join our professional team as an Accounting Specialist. We are looking for a full-time employee to work in an exciting and vibrant support environment. In addition, this individual must have a desire to work in a high energy office where multi-tasking is essential.


We are seeking a reliable, motivated, “people-person” with strong administrative and accounting skills. We are looking for someone who can analyze situations and works to always reach a solution. The ability to grasp and interpret office policies and demonstrate a solid knowledge of the processes and protocols for the company is a must. Additionally, candidates must be organized, detail oriented and possess strong computer skills. We offer competitive pay and benefits. Position Summary 

The Accounting Specialist plays a critical role supporting the Accounting Department by processing financial transactions, assisting in accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, ensuring accurate data and record management and effectively communicating with tenants, vendors, agencies, and internal stakeholders. 


Essential Functions 

  1. Communication:
  2. Communicate effectively with tenants, vendors and internal stakeholders.
  3. Develop and maintain rapport with clients, customers and agencies for improved customer service.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, field services and leasing, to address issues and streamline processes.
  5. Process Transactions:
  6. Receive and record the receipt of funds.
  7. Process laundry coin counts and associated deposits.
  8. Assist Accountant II/AR with accounts receivable and collections.
  9. Assist Accountant II/AP with accounts payable.
  10. Collections Processing:
  11. Track and record NSF’s on accounts, communicating transactions to customers.   
  12. Month-End Close/Year-End Close:
  13. Reconcile corporate credit card statements.
  14. Record Keeping:
  15. Maintain organized and up-to-date records of all processed transactions.
  16. Scan, file and archive invoices and documents in accordance with company policies.
  17. Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures for assigned responsibilities. 
  18. Vendor Management:
  19. Maintain positive relationships with vendors, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
  20. Maintain record of vendor certificates of insurance and lien waivers.     
  21. Process Improvement:Identify opportunities for process improvement within the accounting specialist function and implement efficiency measures to enhance accuracy and reduce processing time.


Supervisory Responsibilities: No direct supervisory responsibilities. 


Work Environment: Typical office environment with flexible workspace allowing seated and standing work. Handicap accessible building with elevator. 


Physical Demands: Operating office equipment including keyboard and mouse. Walking short distances. Occasional lift/carry up to 40 pounds. 


Position Type: Full time, on site. 


Work Hours: Office hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday; some weekend work may be required. 


Travel: Minimal travel <10%. 


Qualifications and Requirements 

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent business experience. 
  • Understands basic accounting principles and practices. 
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including the ability to create and interpret financial reports. 
  • Familiarity with property management or real estate industry practices is a plus. 
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including delegating appropriately. 
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills. 
  • High level of integrity and ethical conduct.
